A Living Orchard on the Slopes of Hawaiʻi Island

Nestled on nine lush acres below Kona Bayview Inn, The Orchard at Pele’s Garden is a living, breathing landscape of macadamia trees, fruiting plants, and culinary herbs. Rooted in volcanic soil and nurtured by island sun, rain, and trade winds, our orchard is both a working farm and a place of connection — to the land, to food, and to the spirit of Hawaiʻi.

Located at 83-5605 Middle Keei Road, our orchard is part of the same land that holds Kona Bayview Inn, offering guests and visitors a deeper experience of the ʻāina that feeds and sustains this place.

Our Orchard

Macadamia Orchard

Our primary crop is macadamia nuts, grown across nine acres of gently sloping land. These trees thrive in Hawaiʻi’s volcanic soil, producing rich, buttery nuts that reflect the character of the land they grow on. Our macadamias are the heart of Pele’s Garden — harvested, prepared, and transformed into small-batch products inspired by fire, rain, and tradition.

Fruit Trees

Alongside the macadamia orchard is one acre of diverse fruit trees, grown for freshness, flavor, and abundance:

  • Bananas
  • Coconuts
  • Cacao
  • Avocados
  • Star fruit
  • Oranges
  • Limes
  • Lemons
  • Mangos
  • Lilikoi (passion fruit)

These trees provide seasonal harvests that reflect the rhythm of the island and the richness of the land.

Culinary Herb Garden

Our small but vibrant herb garden supports both culinary and craft uses, featuring:

  • Sage
  • Rosemary
  • Spearmint
  • Peppermint
  • Oregano
  • Thyme

These herbs are grown with care and intention, adding aroma, flavor, and grounding energy to life at Pele’s Garden.

A Shared Property with Kona Bayview Inn

The Orchard at Pele’s Garden sits just below Kona Bayview Inn, sharing the same historic property while offering its own distinct agricultural identity. Guests of the inn often encounter the orchard during their stay — walking among the trees, learning about the land, and tasting the harvest. Together, the inn and orchard tell a complete story: where you sleep, where you walk, and where your food comes from are all connected.

Rooted in Place

Pele’s Garden is named in honor of Pele, the Hawaiian goddess of fire and creation. Our orchard exists because of volcanic land — shaped by fire, enriched by ash, and sustained by rain. Every tree, nut, fruit, and herb grown here is a reflection of that elemental balance. This is not an industrial farm. It is a small, intentional orchard, tended with respect for the land and its cycles.
